Victor Harbor Holiday Cabin Park: In the Fleurieu Peninsula region of South Australia
Victor Harbor is a very popular holiday destination for many South Australians so it's little wonder that one of its best holiday parks covers more than 20 acres.
Chalets, cabins, units, on-site vans and large powered/unpowered grassed sites are available to hire on beautiful and spacious grounds with plenty of shady trees.
But the most impressive thing you'll find about the park is its outstanding facilities that go beyond your average camp ground.
In 2001 Mark and Margaret Allanson travelled from Port Augusta to Victor Harbor to take over ownership of the park. Many improvements have since been made.
There is a modern playground with swing sets and slippery dips and a games room with pool table and pin-ball machines.
There are new barbecue areas and a camp kitchen, a great facility for campers featuring cooking facilities, a fridge, microwave, television and lounge. As another service to their guests, the park has recently introduced a Wireless Internet Hot Zone that can be accessed via your own WiFi enabled laptop or the park's own coin-operated machine. A kiosk on site sells all your basic snacks, necessities, ice and LPG gas refills.
"We are really pleased with all the changes we've made to the park. Families love it here, parents feel happy because they can see their children having fun in the park's open surrounds," Proprietor Margaret Allanson said.
All chalets and cabins are fully self-contained and feature an ensuite, air-conditioning, colour TV, microwave, two bedrooms and a large kitchen/dining area. Linen and towels are required, but may be hired.
The on-site vans are especially suited for the budget conscience and can sleep up to six people.
The Victor Harbor Holiday Park is located only a five-minute walk to the beach and a leisurely 10 minute walk to the town centre.
There are many popular tourist attractions nearby including the Whale Centre, Urimbirra Wildlife Park, Greenhills Adventure Park, Dunes Mini Golf, Odyssey Adventure Parasailing, and Wild Rose Miniature Village and, of course, no one can leave Victor Harbor without boarding the horse tram to Granite Island to see the fairy penguins.
Victor Harbor is also host to some great sporting activities such as golf, lawn bowls, petanque, croquet, surfing, swimming and kayaking. The region has an abundance of cafes, restaurants, hotels, shops and wineries and is only 30 minutes drive to the Coorong National Park and the Murray River mouth.
Tourist information is available on site at the park and proprietors Mark and Margaret are only too happy to offer good advice on your travels.
