Tom Hardy’s WINE ATLAS
With a name like Hardy - Tom Hardy should know his wine and he does. Tom is part of the famous winemaking dynasty and he has spent the past two and a half years in vineyards and wineries scattered across Australia and New Zealand.
From Allusion Wines near Yankalilla on the Fleurieu Peninsula and Chain of Ponds Winery in the Adelaide Hills to the big names of the Barossa and across the Tasman to the vineyards of New Zealand Tom bloke has visited and photographed them all for his well known Wine and Food Pictorial Atlas.
“I'm not really looking at the connoisseur. I'm looking at what you and I would like to do on a nice sunny Sunday.”
The Atlas is the perfect starting point for those who want a quick tour of our major wineries. Whether it's a full or half page summary like the one on Bleasdale Winery at Langehorne Creek near Strathalbyn. You'll get a brief history, in this case starting with its founder Frank Potts, the man who arrived on the HMS Buffalo and set about establishing his own winery with it's famous red gum press. The Atlas provides cellar door times for each winery as well as the recommended time for cellaring each of their respective drops.
“The Atlas features just over five hundred Australian wineries. There's supposed to be about fourteen hundred wineries in Australia but I couldn't find a lot of them. But the ones I've got there cover about ninety eight percent of the wine made anyway.“
Copies of Tom Hardy's Australian and New Zealand Wine and Food Pictorial Atlas are available at most wineries and Dymocks Bookstores. If you require further information please email info@postcards-sa.com.au
