The hosts of the Tanunda Caravan and Tourist Park know a lot about caravan parks. Jae and Jeff Lucas have spent a great deal of time travelling around Australia. To earn extra money they often would work at caravan and tourist parks. Somewhere along the line they began to think that operating a park of their own would be a wonderful idea. Given such experience, Jae and Jeff have been managing the Tanunda Caravan and Tourist Park since the mid nineties.

Since the hosts have been in attendance, a few necessary renovations have been completed. Nine new cabins (one with full disabled facilities) have been built. The toilet block was upgraded and now includes a new disabled and babies bathroom. “The facilities have been improved ten fold” enthuses Jae. In the near future, they also plan to build a camp kitchen and recreation/meeting room.

Open to larger groups of holidaymakers, the Tanunda Caravan and Tourist Park welcomes clubs and conventions at special rates. Among others, the park has accommodated caravan, car (such as vintage cars and hot-rods) and cycling clubs. The 20 acres of grounds generally proves to be an advantage for larger assemblies as the hosts can provide marquee sites, a hearty cooked breakfast and live music.

The Tanunda Caravan and Tourist Park caters for a broad range of guests and budgets. Visitors often discover that they like the independence that the park can grant over motel accommodation. The park offers great four and a half star lodging where guests can opt for either the deluxe spa or the deluxe en-suite cabin. There is also an en-suite or park cabin alternative. All on site caravans feature air conditioning, cooking appliances and fridge, and are suitable for two to eight people. If you choose to bring your own caravan, your site will be equipped with power, water and sullage disposal.

There is no shortage of things to do at the Tanunda Caravan and Tourist Park. Bike hire is available for both children and adults. There are ample sized playgrounds for the kids and a well stocked Kiosk for when they get hungry. There are gas and electric barbeques on hand, and LPG refills when the need arises. Fire bins and campfires are also permitted, but only during the appropriate season.

The park is furthermore home to a unique Sound Shell (an amphitheatre), which is located on the oval. Jae and Jeff often hold popular Country ‘n’ Western, Jazz and other musically themed nights at the Sound Shell.

The Tanunda Caravan and Tourist Park is a beautiful location in which to take your next holiday. The operators pride themselves in the cleanliness and careful maintenance of their park. Jae and Jeff take a great deal of satisfaction from the lovely atmosphere, which the establishment seems to generate. Jae admits “we’re a friendly bunch here!”

The beautifully landscaped grounds of the Tanunda Caravan and Tourist Park can be found in the heart of the Barossa. At only an hours drive from Adelaide and situated at the southern end of the main street (intersection of Barossa Valley Way and Gomersal Road) the park really is a straightforward journey.
