Sunnybrae Function CentreSunnybrae Function Centre: Regency Park North Adelaide

Sunnybrae Function Centre is a complex of 120 year old buildings that are listed with the National Trust. Each has been meticulously restored, and offer an exceptional standard of comfort and authenticity. The 4.5 acre property is the remaining portion of farmland originally known by the quaint name of Tam O’Shanter Belt, after a vessel of that name which ran aground at North Arm while navigating the Port River. Passengers were forced to walk through the native scrub towards North Adelaide, where they looked back, and found the stranded vessel was still visible over the belts of trees, hence the name.

Sunnybrae has been used for a variety of agricultural purposes since its inception in the first half of the 19th century. It is fitting that the faithfully restored buildings have been carefully adapted to provide flexible and unique reception, function and conference facilities. In 1882, building commenced on the substantial structures that now form the basis for the Sunnybrae Function Centre.

The cowshed, now renamed the coach house, was soon followed by the cheese room, machinery shed and cellars, and the following year, the managers residence and Dairymen’s quarters were erected.

Since those early colonial days, alterations, additions and improvements have been made, making Sunnybrae a unique and tranquil venue for weddings, conferences, seminars and receptions. It is in fact, the perfect place for any event, ‘when only the best will do’.

The heritage-listed Homestead is ideal for intimate weddings of up to 80 guests, and features open fireplace, delightful views of the Pepper Tree Gazebo, the formal rose garden and the western lawns. The adjacent Atrium is the perfect place for pre-dinner drinks, entertainment, or even the wedding ceremony on unexpected rainy days.

With seating for up to 100, the modern Pavillion has full-length windows giving spectacular views of the rose garden, and opens onto the Garden Terrace. With clear vinyl blinds, ceiling fans and heaters, the Terrace is an all-weather venue for pre-dinner drinks, entertainment or perhaps the ceremony. Largest of the function rooms is the Coach House, which caters for 190 people in elegant but relaxed style. It features an elevated stage and a large timber dance floor. The Homestead, Pavillion and Coach House all have wheelchair access.

Smaller rooms are also available, and are ideal for seminars, conferences, product releases and trade functions. The Richard Day Room, Heritage Room and the stand-alone Cheese Room cater for 16 to 100 guests.
