The Seacliff Beach Hotel The Seacliff Beach Hotel

The original Seacliff Hotel wasn't a hotel at all to start with. In fact it wasn't even called The Seacliff. It was known as "The Australia", a three-storey residential cafe with 30 beds. In those early days during the Depression, business was so slow the owners only opened for business on weekends and Christmas and closed during winter. Luckily times change and the cafe eventually became "The Hotel Australia", a popular meeting place for both holiday makers and locals. The hotel was so popular that the English cricketers made it their headquarters during the Adelaide test of the 1935-36 tour. Finally in 1937 the hotel was sold and the new owner loved the area so much he renamed his new acquisition "The Seacliff Hotel".

Today you can visit the hotel and enjoy the facilities in the Tavern Bar, the Reef Bar, the Beachcomber Sands Gaming Lounge and the hotel's Balcony overlooking the sea. Counter meals are served from 10am to midnight and breakfast is served Wednesday to Sunday from 8am to 10.30pm. (Breakfast on the Balcony sounds great). Private functions can be catered for in the Garden Lounge where you can eat in luxury, surrounded by palms and ferns and protected by the all weather pergola. The Balcony can also cater for groups of up to 40 people. The Seacliff Beach Hotel also has 6 self contained rooms available at reasonable rates.
