Safari Campervans: In the Adelaide City region of South Australia
It's everyone's dream to escape and get away for a nice long holiday but it's never that easy. There's always the hassle of packing and stacking - there's crockery, linen cutlery, chairs and tables. You even have tents to pack. But if you get a camper it becomes a very user-friendly holiday.
I tried out a Safari Adventurer which is one of the easiest ways to take the hassle out of a camping holiday. It's a locally built Safari Campervan. The one I tested was on the back of a Ford cab chassis but there's a variety of options when it comes to the vehicle and the lay-out. Nigel Rodighiero from Safari explains:
“This is what we classify as a mid-sized motor-home - something that anyone can get in drive. You don't need any special licence and you can drive it pretty much anywhere you want to. It has a lot of advantages over a caravan because everything's in one so you don't have to worry about hooking up unhooking, how to pass cars, extra mirrors or anything like that. It's all there ready to go. As soon as you get to your destination - get out - get in - done.”
It may not look large from the outside but once you enter it’s surprising the amount of space and mod-cons. At one end there’s a queen-sized bed, and at the other end there’s a shower and toilet, air conditioning, kitchen sink with foldaway cutting board. There's a fridge/freezer, wardrobe, drawers, and a microwave for when you have a powered site. There’s a 12 volt range-hood with light and a two burner stove with a grill underneath. The four seat table folds down into second double bed.
It may be compact but it caters for absolutely everything you need. Safari Campervans are on the corner of Marion and Sturt Roads, Mitchell Park. They have a range of vans and conversions available.
