Penfolds Nuriootpa Winery: At Nuriootpa, in the Barossa Valley region of South Australia

Penfolds Nuriootpa Winery is located at the northern end of the town on Tanunda Road. The Estate houses many of those world-renowned Penfolds wines. These Barossa vineyards are an essential element of Penfolds, as they continue and further refine the meticulous winemaking tradition. Currently the main producer of Penfolds grapes, the Nuriootpa winery is also home to the Penfolds red and white winemaking teams.

Always a leader in their field, Penfolds employs a progressive release policy. The range of Penfolds Bin wines are only accessible once the winemakers are satisfied with the balance of fruit, tannins and oak. The vintage-by-vintage release is a much more workable solution, as opposed to the impractical pre-determined launch date.

Penfolds former Chief Winemaker Peter Gago is pleased with the innovative procedure, explaining "as we all know, vintages vary so it didn't make sense to have such a rigid release date in place. The wines themselves should really decide the timing of their release". Moreover, the policy ensures a superior annual product for both consumers and Penfolds.

Immerse yourself in the ultimate Australian wine experience and take this special tour.While visiting the home if the Penfolds Winemaking team you will discover the philosophy and spirit behind Australia's greatest wine. You will meet the Coopers and complete your experience with 'A Taste of Grange ' and other celebrated wines.

This unique Tour is available Tuesday & Thursday at 10 a.m. by appointment only. The tasting is for a minimum of four people & maximum of 6. Please allow 24 hours notice for all bookings and 2 hours to conclude the tour. (Charges apply)

If however, the private tour does not appeal, the cellar door is always available for a selection of wine tasting. Penfolds have also created an extensive collection of museum wines, which are available only at the Cellar Door. Penfolds Cellar welcomes all visitors to their doors. As they stock such a wide range of fine products, it would seem wholly remiss to forego the chance of a divine tipple, or two.
