It's amazing how far your hobbies can take you. Just ask Russell and Shirley Ross who are the owner operator's of the award winning Parndana Wildlife Park on Kangaroo Island. The awards being "K.I. Built in a parkland setting of over 30 acres, which was opened in January of 1992, the park gives visitors the opportunity to get close to some rare and unusual native animals. Their motto is " Kangaroo Island Wildlife at your Finger Tips" offering the opportunity to see, hear and touch native animals and birds.
It has Kangaroo Island's largest collection of birds and animals including a spectacular array of Parrots, Rosellas, Black Cockatoos, Hawks, Eagles, Owls, Curlews and Kookaburras. Adjoining the avairies are K.I. Kangaroos, Tammar Wallabies, Feral Pigs, Koalas, Echidnas, Swamp Wallabies, Bettongs, Potoroos, Red Kangaroos, Bandicoots and domestic animals.
A leisurely stroll through the large indoor aviary with water features and raised viewing platform houses a collection of doves, finches and ground birds.
Shirley commented that " We endeavor to create an experience which is interactive, entertaining, appealing, uncrowded and relaxed so that each visitor leaves with a highly satisfied experience".
The park is rarely without young animals as it takes in and cares for injured, orphaned and unwanted animals. When available, groups can experience holding baby kangaroos, wallabies, possums and occasionally koalas.
