North Terrace, AdelaideNorth Terrace: Keith strolls along the Terrace in the Adelaide City region of South Australia

Keith takes a look around Adelaide's cultural boulevard, North Terrace. He finds that the $14 million upgrade has put the 'terrace' back into North Terrace. The landscaping makes clever use of waterwise plantings suitable for our dry climate. But the designers also injected a little of the 19th century gardener's love of exotica - some unusual succulents that form stunning green and purple rosettes.

Water features are cleverly understated and paths and paving pick up Colonel Light's original city grid. Down by the Bonython Hall there's a real sense of open space. Some of the old trees have been removed to open up new pathways into the newly landscape green space in front of the Elder Hall.
