Nick Krieg - singer: Ron enjoys the music in the Adelaide City region of South Australia
Mid week at the Governor Hindmarsh Hotel or "The Gov" as it's known to those who embrace Adelaide's live music scene and the crowd is being entertained by a blow-in from Port Lincoln, Nick Krieg.
The set goes down well for a young bloke who's been playing guitar for twenty five years and writing his own compositions since he was fourteen years old. Earlier this year Nick was invited to play at Womadelaide in Botanic Park so we took him back there to talk to him about his laid back style.
His lap steel guitar playing has a rich, full sound. "It sounds like more than one person is playing," explained Nick. "There's also the lyrical quality of the slide on the strings which I find really appealing."
Last month, Nick Krieg was at the Prairie Hotel at Parachilna in the Flinders Ranges for the launch of a special CD. It's a collaboration with his father, Terry who tells the geological story of the Flinders through the words of the father and the music of the son. Nick's guitar work provides the perfect accompaniment to the story of Flinders and the geological roller coaster that caused it all.
Nick Krieg plays at the Governor Hindmarsh on Sunday August the 27th. Copies of his latest CDs will be on sale at the venue. If you have any further questions please email info@postcards-sa.com.au
