PS Marion MARION, HERITAGE PADDLESTEAMER

Every two years, houseboat owners, wooden boat fanatics and all those in love with the nautical heritage of the River Murray gather en masse to sample that special something in what's called the River Ramble, where, as Postcards discovered last year, the emphasis is on relaxation and fun. Later this year, the rhythms of the River will flow to a slightly older and slower beat, the beating of the paddlewheel as the Riverboats take to the water as part of the Centenary of Federation's "Source to Sea" event.

A flotilla of paddle steamers will set out from Echuca in Victoria at the end of July and will arrive at Goolwa, near the Murray Mouth on September the 29th. Our very own paddle steamer, the 103 year old Marion, will be offering cruises throughout September. You can hop on board the world's only remaining wood-fired passenger boat, and take part in this federation event on a piece of South Australia's working history.

The PS Marion is offering a range of four-day and six-day cruises. For details contact the Mannum Visitor information centre on 8569 1303 or email info@postcards-sa.com.au
