Kies Goolwa Hotel
Walking through the picturesque seaside town of Goolwa, you can't help but notice the hotel with the figure head on top. The Goolwa Hotel was built in 1854 and is full of local history. During 1854 the ship "Mozanbique" was wrecked at the Murray Mouth and today the tribute to that vessel is the figure head on the hotel. You can take a walk back in time and see the relics of the Mozanbique ship in the various rooms of the hotel. Furniture in one of the dining rooms was from the Mozanbique and the exposed shingles in the room were part of the cargo. One of the features of the hotel is the timber staircase which was crafted from the ship.
The Goolwa Hotel has an extensive A-La-Carte menu in the dining room, starting from $7 with a range of seafood, steaks and chicken. A children's menu is also available and bar meals start from $5. On Friday nights they have the popular Snitzel Nights and you could always try your luck on one of their 20 poker machines in the gaming room, or enjoy the Live Entertainment.. The Hotel also has Sky Channel, Tab facilities and the Bottle Shop has an extensive range for you to choose from. So if you want to soak up a bit of South Australia's history it would be well worth a visit to the Goolwa Hotel. The Goolwa Hotel is located at 7 Cadell Street, Goolwa and is open from 9.30am Monday to Saturdays and 11am on Sundays.
