Together with Moonta and Wallaroo, Kadina forms what is affectionately known as 'Australia's Little Cornwall', on the upper Yorke Peninsula, a comfortable 90 minute drive from the Adelaide CBD.

Following the find of incredibly rich copper ore in 1859, the three towns quickly developed and thrived until the mid-1920's when large-scale mining ceased. Many of the miners were Cornish migrants, and most of the grand buildings, mine workings and culture remains today as a permanent memorial to their skill and perseverance.

Kadina is the largest town on the Peninsula, and is an architectural 'gem' of living history. The Kadina Hotel is one of the grand, historic buildings that are carefully maintained to a high standard, to ensure the Cornish tradition is preserved. Although it can be described as a 'grand historic building', the hotel provides a full range of modern amenities for the most discerning visitor. From Monday to Saturday, lunch is served from 12.00 until 2.00, and dinner from 6.00 until 8.00, and include a wide range of salads and vegetables from the sumptous self-serve bar.

Proprietors Nathan and Amelia Joyce are particularly proud of the reputation they have gained from the Steak and Seafood restaurant, and claim that the Butterfish Special is the best in South Australia. Moderately priced daily lunch specials are also available .

Six well-appointed guest rooms with en-suite and TV are available. The tariff is only $55 a night for a double room, including continental breakfasts, which represents excellent value.

The air-conditioned Kadina Hotel has a good range of beer and cider on-tap, TAB facilities, Sky channel and big-screen TV. There are also 31 of the latest gaming machines available for the use of patrons. "Club Kadina' at the hotel offers special services and facilities for members.

The proprietors are racehorse owners with a solid commitment to the racing industry, and they offer a particular welcome to other owners, trainers and racing enthusiasts.

Kadina has much of interest for visitors. It is only 10 minutes from the beach, which has excellent fishing and every type of water sport. The region abounds in historic relics from the mining days, parks, gardens and museums.

Why not spend some time in the area, and after a day exploring the diverse attractions, enjoy a superb meal at the Kadina Hotel, where Nathan, Amelia and staff will make you welcome. It will be a fitting conclusion to a wonderful day.
