Martina Frolich Martina Frolich

Martina Frolich can't help herself. She isn't capable of going anywhere without her camera. She describes herself simply as a "keen observer of nature, life and people." On this morning on Hindmarsh Island overlooking the Mundoo Channel, there's plenty to observe. "It's just so attractive and has so much beauty to photograph I just can't help myself and shoot the surroundings and shadows and bits and pieces like that." Martina was born in Germany and came to Sydney as a baby. After training as a teacher she worked in country New South Wales and then Adelaide. Her restless spirit took her on the road and her camera went along for the ride. Eventually she fell in love with the South Coast and settled at Goolwa - an area she has been chronicling ever since. The South Coast is a large canvas but Martina's eye is often for the delicate images... the shadows, spikes and curves. "Some people would look at just the obvious but I have learnt to live it and love it." Her images of the South Coast and the Coorong have been exhibited in galleries in South Australia and Victoria. Martina's work is available at Yilki Picture Framers in Victor Harbor, Reynella Creative Crafts and Collectibles on Old South Road and the Pig & Whistle at Delamere.
