Hahndorf Farm Barn The Hahndorf Farm Barn: At Hahndorf, in the Adelaide Hills Region of South Australia

"Easy to find-------Too good to miss"

Holding, touching and feeding animals can be a truly memorable experience.

The Hahndorf Farm Barn in South Australia was set up to provide such an experience.

Located in the popular tourist village of Hahndorf in the beautiful Adelaide Hills, the Hahndorf Farm Barn is a unique tourism attraction that allows people of all ages to interact with a variety of tame farm animals, from lambs and goats to alpacas and cows.

The Farmer family opened the Hahndorf Farm Barn nearly six years ago and, each day, they offer tourists the opportunity to meet their stable of furry friends - Sam the Suffolk ram, Daisy the cow, Billy the alpaca and many others.

Hahndorf Farm BarnOn a visit to the barn visitors are treated to an interactive show at 11am and again at 2pm where, from the comfort of hay bales, they are introduced to the Farmer’s friendly farm animals one by one.

Visitors learn all types of interesting facts and they also have the opportunity to count Sam's teeth, try milking Daisy and meet Dolly the Damara the fat tail sheep. And if the season is right, visitors can watch a sheep being shorn.

Guests are free to roam around the barn and are also welcome to jump in the pens to touch and feed the many animals.

They can hold guinea pigs, rabbits, baby chicks and bottle-feed baby lambs and goats.

They can also say hello to Larry and Bob the Cockatoos, stare in wonder at the turtles and watch busy bees in their hive.

Then you can go out into our Nature Park and count the wallabies, watch the ducks swimming in the pond, see the peacocks and pheasants. If you are very quiet you may even get Bambi and Thumper to take carrots from your hand and then see our white kangaroo eat some bread.

Hahndorf Farm BarnThere is so much to do that it’s easy to spend a couple of hours taking everything in.

You can bring along your own food for a picnic as we only sell soft drinks, tea and coffee.

The Farm Barn is a wheelchair friendly environment.

The barn even contains a small gift shop selling home made produce, Lanolin skin products and beanies and scarves made from alpaca wool and cuddly toys that represent popular Australian animals.

Overseas visitors from countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, China and Japan are always thrilled with the animal interaction and many have taken advantage of the “Aussie Bush BBQ” which can be part of the Farm Barn experience. This truly Australian meal features damper, kangaroo steak and salt-bush lamb patties.
