Talyala Emu Farm Talyala Emu Farm

Last year on Postcards we paid a visit to the Talyala (tally-yala) Emu Farm just outside Murray Bridge. It's a fully working emu farm raising chicks from the egg until they're processed. In addition it offers visitors tours of the farm to see the birds. "Our babies start out down here in this section of the farm and develop through three seasons." Peter and Nerida Hill now run special twilight tours of the farm that are a prelude to an evening of bush entertainment. It begins with a bush music lesson from Brian Goldsmith. Brian is originally from Point Pearce and runs a performing arts company known as "Bookyianna Narrunga" (BOOK-ee-yarna Naah-RONG-ga) that teaches aspects of Aboriginal Culture. After a BBQ dinner of emu, kangaroo and bush berries, a Coroboree is held. The Talyala Emu Farm is open seven days per week with hourly tours. It's ten kilometres north of Murray Bridge on the Mannum Road. For more information email info@postcards-sa.com.au
