Barossa Under the Stars Barossa Under the Stars

Julio Iglasias was doing what he does best last weekend at Leeuwin Estate at Margaret River south of Perth. A natural gum-lined amphitheatre was filled with the sound of the Spanish crooner. It was Leeuwin Estate that inspired the "Barossa Under The Stars" concert series that began last year when Shirley Bassey played to a crowd on the lawns next to Peter Lehmann's winery. Now Julio is on the way for another stop on a 30 year career of : "Wine, Women and Music". And this time it's the wine that interests the 54 year old most. After admitting to "researching wine" across the world - Julio rates Australia second only to France in winemaking. And like so many he adores Penfold's Grange. "I heard of that place and I know they have amazing wine and I adore Penfolds 71 and is one of the best masterpieces ever. I adore the cab sauvignon. I am very much interested in the wines of my life and I love the Australian wines. Adelaide is a beautiful place."

Julio Iglasias didn't set out to be a singer, in fact it was only his third career choice. He started off as a teenage soccer player but injury led to a law career and eventually onto the stage. Now he live in Miami, has sold millions of records in several languages and performed from Finland to China. All of which adds weight to his claim that Australia is one of the most incredible countries in the world. "Australia was always a country of multiple races being an amazing country that attracts the attention of other countries. When the Olympics are in Sydney it will be a chance to show even more of the beautiful Australian People." Julio Iglasias will perform at Barossa Under the Stars next Saturday night at Tanunda. General admission is $67 and seats are available for $87. For more information ph 8223 7788 email: info@postcards-sa.com.au
