Art Gallery of SA, Guided Tours with Alfreda Day
Alfreda Day admits that at 84 her memory isn't what it should be. But when it comes to art she says the information flows like water from a tap - she takes over a hundred tours a year. So we asked her to show us some of her favourite pieces - she began with one of the sculptures by Auguste Rodin. "Each of the figures we have are beautiful and full of history". "Now in Gallery 17 we display parts of our Landscape Collection. Nicholas Lang who painted many of these works is absolutely magical".
"Without a doubt, one of the Galleries most unusual works is the Lady With Her Washing. It's interesting to see peoples reaction and sometimes I feel like giving it a good shampoo". Tours of the Art Gallery of South Australia by Alfreda or any of the other volunteer guides are free and take place twice daily at 11am and 2pm. For more information email info@postcards-sa.com.au
